Yarram is at
the heart of the most beautiful country in Gippsland.
From the splendour of Ninety Mile Beach to the
delicious cool atmosphere of Tarra Valley National
Park, from the historic excellence of Port Albert
to the natural wonder of Wilsons Promontory, there
is somewhere here to please everyone. The town
of Yarram itself offers the visitor a wide range
of varied options. There is a lovely eighteen
hole Golf Course, frequented by many kangaroos
at one end of the town and the superbly cared for
Bowling Greens at the other. In between there are
tennis courts, a swimming pool, extensive shopping
facilities, hotels and the recently restored Regent
Theatre.
The old Court
House, is an architectural gem and now serves the
town as an information centre, open every day except Wednesday from 10.30am to 3.00pm.
There is a wide range of accommodation available at hotels, B&B's, cabins and caravan
parks, all clean, friendly and reasonably priced.
There are also good places to eat, serving a wide
range of foods, to suit most tastes.
Fishing is a
major attraction of the area and as such is well
catered for, with launching ramps, hire and charter
boats all on offer at Port Albert and tackle and
bait available throughout the district. The fishing
is some of the best anywhere along the coast, with
snapper, gummy shark, large flathead and whiting
to be caught virtually anywhere.
Other sports
and pastimes include bushwalking, horse riding,
bike riding, surfing and canoeing, with equipment
available for hire in most cases. You can also
visit painters' galleries, a museum and numerous
historical sites around the district. Yarram is
the natural centre for those who wish to visit
any of the interesting attractions of the area.
From the moment you arrive until the day you depart,
you will feel welcome!
